Welcome to the WM Youth Plus Project!
This project is the result of a vision to provide free basic computer literacy training to the under priviledged in Nigeria.
The vision is to start with a pilot program leading to a nationwide program.
By providing a mobile training center and using an assesment system that will ensure a fairness in the availability of the service. the program aims to train about 1500 people within the first 12 months.
Delivering a structured course over 3 days to a small class of not more than 8 at a time, to afford participants the opportunity to get the best from the tutor and have sufficient access to resources.
A competency test will be taken after the course and succesful participants will be issued A certificate of competency detailing topics covered and providing a reference with regards to application for work.
Participants will be given the opportunity to be mentored through a learning at work system that will work in conjunction with local employers.
The first prototype of the mobile unit is planned to launch in Lagos, Nigeria, in July 2010.
The breakdown of cost involved is readily available on request and will shortly be made available publicly once the prototype is launched.
